Alpha is a multi-week course that creates a space where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about faith, life and God.
Alpha is a place to explore the Christian faith together with others.
Each session starts with a shared meal, followed by a short video and time for open conversation in small groups.
Alpha is perfect if you’re new to faith, but also if you’d like to go deeper, learn more, or talk about life’s big questions. Whether you’d like to join yourself or invite a friend, we’d love to have you with us!
Alpha is free, and there’s no pressure to commit – you’re welcome to come once and see if it’s for you.

The course starts on Tuesday, 13 January 2026 with the session “Is There More To Life Than This?”
After that, it continues every Tuesday evening from 19:00–21:30, with the final session on 24 March (scroll down for the full list of dates). The location is Het Marehuis, Oude Vest 61, 2312 XS, Leiden.
During Alpha, you’ll explore questions like: “Who is Jesus?”, “How can I have faith?”, “How do I pray?”, “Why read the Bible?” – and many more.
The course is organised in collaboration with five churches: Herengrachtkerk, Marekerk, Opstandingskerk, St James Voorschoten and the International Church of Leiden (ICL). You can choose between a Dutch or English discussion group, so you can take part in your own language. The videos are in English with Dutch subtitles, so everyone can follow and join the conversation.
