Photography & Video Policy
The following policy applies to the use of photography and video:
Why we take photos
Why we take photos
- We want to celebrate the life of the church. To do that well, we want to use photos and other visuals for communication and promotion purposes.
- This includes using photos on our St James church website, email, social media channels and printed materials.
- Photos may be taken on various occasions to celebrate and record special events and reflect the vibrant life of our church.
- If photos are to be taken, this will be communicated with those in attendance at the beginning of the event.
- Photos taken will focus on groups rather than individuals, and full names will not be used without consent.
- We recognise that a person’s image is classed as personal to them, and therefore photos will only be used as outlined in this policy and will at all times maintain the dignity of the individual.
- The GDPR consent form (accessible via the St James Weekly Email or the church office) allows you to indicate your preference. You may change your preference at any moment via the option "update your preferences" which can be found at the bottom of every Weekly Email.
- Photos of children and vulnerable adults will never be used unless a consent form has been completed as part of the registration for our children’s ministry, St J’s Club.
- If you would like a photo of yourself to be removed from a church platform, please contact the church office with details.
- Digital files are stored securely and password protected, and access is restricted to authorised persons.
