Children & Youth
St James is committed to the well-being of all young people in our congregation, and operates in accordance with safeguarding best practice and Diocese in Europe regulations. All our children’s helpers are recruited and trained accordingly, and on any Sunday there is a minimum of two helpers, one of which will be a Dutch speaker. For more information click here.

First Steps (ages 0 to 3)
During the Sunday morning services the little ones are looked after by a team of dedicated helpers. A priority for the First Steps team is that your child can have fun in a secure, informal setting. (Please ask the Welcome Team to direct you to First Steps). Every effort is made to ensure that children enjoy safe, stimulating play within the boundaries of routine and consistency. In addition to this we have guided activities such as simple Bible stories, fun craft activities related to the Bible story and singing songs. Whilst listening to the Bible story we have a drink of water and a biscuit.
On communion Sundays (every other week) we, as a group of helpers and children, come forward during communion for a blessing and then go back to our room for singing and tidy up. If you prefer, you are of course very welcome to pick your child up to take them to the front for a blessing yourself, just discuss this with the helpers on the day.

St J's Club (ages 4-10)
Our aim at St. James is to provide an environment for all children to be able to hear the good news of Jesus and grow in knowing him, so they can live as God's children in the world and persevere as Christians into adulthood!
Our desire is for them to grow into godly men and women, integrated into the church, prepared for living in the world and committed to sharing the truth with others.
On a Sunday morning we do this in St J’s Club by teaching the Bible and giving the children the chance to investigate for themselves and ask questions. We pray together, sing lively songs, play games and sometimes do a craft activity. Our teaching sessions are in both Dutch and English.
The children start off each Sunday for the first song and prayer with the rest of the church family in the main hall then leave for their groups . We meet in a room adjacent to the main meeting room and the school library. Towards the end of the service the children return to the main hall for the last song and blessing. On the first Sunday of the month we have an 'all-age service' so everyone joins in for a child-friendly service. On the third Sunday of the month we celebrate communion and the children come in from St J's Club to participate.
We are a friendly group of children from all over the world, all speaking English and/or Dutch (and more languages!) and would love it if you joined us.

Youth (ages 11-18)
For young people attending secondary school or Dutch middelbare school there is a group which meets on Sunday mornings during the morning service at 10.30 am and on Friday evenings or Sunday lunchtime for social events.
